Jason Graham a.k.a. MOsley WOtta/MOWO

Artist, Poet, Educator

Five years ago, we debuted the very first Bend Design. There we were blown away by MOWO, whose poetry gets to the heart of things that need to be said—yet often go unspoken. We’re delighted to have him back as the emcee for 2019. MOsley WOtta is a critically acclaimed “multimedia multiethnic multivitamin artist, performer, speaker” and the Creative Laureate of Bend, Oregon. His work has been recognized by the Oregon Arts Commission and Rise Up International in association with the US Embassy, among others. Read more about MOWO below.

More about the speaker

Chicago-born, Oregon-grown MOsley WOtta a.k.a. MOWO is a critically acclaimed “multimedia multiethnic multivitamin artist, performer, speaker.” His work as an Art Ambassador for Rise Up International in association with the US Embassy has taken him around the world to lead workshops, showcase his talents, and, as he puts it, “mitigate his sprawling ego.”

Recently, MOWO received the 2019 Individual Artist Fellowship Grant from the Oregon Arts Commission. He was also elected as the first Creative Laureate of Bend, Oregon. MOWO’s work is featured on TEDx, OPB/PBS, Street Con Dubai, Soul Pancake, SOFAR Sounds and live in living rooms and basements. He is an Oregon Humanities Conversation Project leader.

His latest full length album, “What Comes After” in collaboration with producer Colten Tyler Williams is available both domestically and overseas. His next  project “Bad Lands Music,” in collaboration with the High Desert Museum’s “Desert Reflections” installation, is slated for release later this year.
