Digital Animation, LED and the Future of Public Art / Denver Digerati

Friday October 25 | 10:30 am | 90 Minutes | Trinity Episcopal Church – St. Helens Hall

The Goal: To develop a sustainable infrastructure for digital animation as public art. The means: developing Denver Digerati. This presentation examines the history and methodology behind Denver Digerati, a successful program that works directly with media companies to use outdoor LED screens in a purposeful way that supports artists. Digerati focuses exclusively on motion-based artists working with digital techniques, as a way to engage this exciting, rapidly advancing artistic sector.

The Supernova Digital Animation Festival arose out of this work. It is a singular annual forum that supports vanguard as well as up-and-coming digital artists, incorporating education, community exhibition programs, and student-based initiatives. The festival now also facilitates a year-round public art model that can inspire other communities.
